Dear Shatta Wale……..
I write you this letter with some sort of disappointment in my heart. You and your fans can call it hate as you usually see critics and criticisms but I’ll still go ahead.
It is without a doubt that despite our critics, we love and adore your music. Your talent is unquestionable and your works prove it. The songs may not have to make sense, the lyrics shouldn’t be deep but we’ll dance to it because those are the vibes your music give us. Happiness, easy to go with, enjoyable and entertaining. Let me say, your songs makes us HIGH.
Of course aside your music is your personality. Some will say we shouldn’t pay attention to that but we will, as it all forms and makes up brand, SHATTA WALE. You have often said, your “rowdiness” (takashi) sometimes is good for business which we all agree.
But why resort to “takashi” when the conversation does not demand that? Why try to look dumb when in fact you can be smart and show the world that Shatta is as intelligent as the meaning of the word?
Shatta, I’m writing you this letter because it is becoming too much and we’re gradually getting fed up. What used to be business is gradually turning out to be a nuisance to most music fans and they’re drawing back.
Let’s look at what happened yesterday, on UTV’s United Showbiz with your engagement with Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo. Yes! The usual narrative from you and your fans will be that “it’s good for business” but that’s not it and the tweet below summarises it.
“Shatta Wale can’t have an intellectual argument and he has exhibited it tonight. When you try to push him a bit on an intellectual level, he resort to his usual takashi and “I have money than you” talks.”

It saddens my heart that this is the takeaway from some fans. Call it agenda or hate but the above is true. That has always been that.
But Shatta, I know you’re smarter than this. I know you’re more intelligent than that. I listen to you and you sound so smart and enlightened. You have a very beautiful mind that makes beautiful arguments and that’s why I was so disappointed when you reduced such an intellectual discourse to “takashi” and NAM 1 vibes. “Takashi” shouldn’t be a one-sized fit approach for all issues.
You must sometimes let us see the brilliant Charles Nii Armah-Mensah. The smart guy who pulled plugs to attract Beyouce. The intelligent man who sounded so smart on Paul Adom-Otchere’s Good Evening Ghana Show a few years back.
If this “rowdines” of beating contractors and squaring up with journalists is the only strategy to get attention to the GOG Album then Shatta try a new one because this is getting old and outdated. Remordify and restrategise else, like Arnold said, you’ll remain the most confused and most inconsistent Ghanaian artiste.
You already said last night nobody younger or less richer than you can advice you but I still took this upon myself to put these few words together for you regardless, we love your music and so care about you.
Thank you. Chaaaaaaaaampion.
