Communications Minister, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has described people raising objections against the proposed salary for presidential spouses as “informed, clueless and anti-governemnt.”
According to her, people speaking against the proposal are basically embarking on a propaganda agenda to tarnish the image of the governemnt and to heap hot coals on the head of President Akufo-Addo.
Sharing a post on Facebook in the wake of the uproar that has greeted the news announcing salaries and allowances for the Frist and Second Ladies, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful went hard on critiques and charged citizens to “take every criticism with a pinch of salt.”
The post reads:
It pays to get the full facts before commenting on any issue. I have read vitriolic comments made on this matter based on falsehood and vile propaganda, with insults heaped in the head of our hapless president.
Why are we like that? Some media houses clearly have an anti government agenda and we really need to take what we read on social media with a pinch of salt.
Please read what the actual recommendations on the spouses of all presidents and Vice Presidents are. They are merely formalising an existing arrangement. Nowhere are they being paid as cabinet ministers or is it being backdated to 2017.
Vile propaganda and barefaced lies have been elevated to facts and people are frothing at the mouth over it. Shame on all those who made abusive, uninformed commentary.
You make public service in this country a thankless one.
God have mercy on us all.
